The Memorial Service for Daniel Chan

25 June 2011

Dear Fellow Victorians,

This morning at 10.45 am  a Memorial Service was held in the South Chapel Crematorium in the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park in Sydney for Daniel Chan Weng Khuen. It was a beautiful day with bright sunshine and clear blue skies. Although it is winter in the southern hemisphere now, it did not appear so this morning - the winds were gentle and the temperature mild - a fitting backdrop for Daniel's friends and family to say goodbye to him.

The chapel was small and intimate and could not hold the over 200 friends and well wishers who turned out in force. So, a great many had to stand outside and watch and listen to the proceedings. I must mention that well wishers came from all over the world including Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, and interstate guests came from Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. .

I was requested by the family to deliver a eulogy and I have attached the eulogy. Those interested can open the attachment and read it.

The Crematorium is situated in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and is very well landscaped with running brooks and beautifully kept gardens. There are red roses, pink gardenias and white lilies everywhere. Daniel would appreciate being laid to rest in such beautiful surroundings.
